Hidden among the Pinion Junipers and tight canyons southwest of Colorado Springs is an area known as Rock Creek. This is one of the very unique areas of the region that has immense views, plenty of outdoor recreation and near to metropolitan areas and military bases. One of the key aspects to Rock Creek is its access just to the south of the main gate of Fort Carson. This is ideal as most of the traffic is coming from the north, making it very easy just to slip in from the south. Also, for authorized personnel, Turkey Creek Recreational Area is just adjacent to Rock Creek Canyon. This recreation area features Volleyball, Hiking trails, Stables, Horse trail rides, Riding lessons, Wagon rides, Pony rides, Stagecoach, and a small store.
Cheyenne Mountain State Park is located just to the north of Rock Creek. One of the state’s newest parks, it features many miles of well marked trails and some of the best mountain biking in the region, all with great views of Cheyenne Mountain and the entrance to NORAD. Also, right in the heart of Rock Creek is the May Natural History Museum, a must see!
Hwy 115 is the main road in the area. In addition to providing easy access to Fort Carson, it also leads to shopping and Downtown Colorado Springs. To the south, Hwy 115 accesses Pueblo Reservoir State Park as well as Canon City and the Royal Gorge.
A hideaway tucked up against the mountains, Rock Creek with its recreational opportunities, nearby metropolitan amenities and access to military bases is a great place to own a home.
