Southborough is a large neighborhood located in the southeast area of Colorado Springs. With prices that range from 50k to the lower 200's, this is a great area for a starter home, real estate investment or, with close proximity to military bases, is a great place for military families. While some of the homes here were built as early as the late fifties, the majority of the homes here were built in the seventies and eighties, and construction has continued into the 2000's.
Living in Southborough offers many opportunities to get out and enjoy the crisp Colorado air and urban amenities. There are several parks in the neighborhood including Deerfield, Giberson and Meadowlark city parks. These parks offer everything from playgrounds and playing fields to picnic areas and basketball courts. Also, just to the southeast of the neighborhood is the Bluestem Prairie Open Space, offering plenty of hiking trails, mountain views and wildlife viewing.
There are plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities in Southborough as well. The S. Academy corridor offers a number of shopping centers, grocery stores, restaurants, a library and a movie theater. Just a few minutes farther north is also the Citadel Mall, one of the area’s biggest shopping areas. The neighborhood is bordered to the east by Powers Blvd, providing an easy drive to shopping, dining and entertainment along the Powers corridor. This also means that Peterson AFB and Schriever AFB are just a few minutes away, while the Colorado Springs Airport is just to the southeast. Drennan Rd is just to the south which, with its new and upgraded interchange with S. Academy Blvd, makes the drive to Fort Carson a breeze.
Colorado Springs School District 11 serves the Southborough neighborhood. As the largest district in the city, D11 offers parents and Students the most academic choices in addition to a challenging and innovative curriculum. Students here attend Giberson and Bricker elementary schools, Panorama Middle School and Sierra High School. The main campus of Pikes Peak Community College is just a five to ten minute drive south.
With its great location, affordable homes, proximity to shopping, entertainment, dining and metropolitan amenities, Southborough is a great neighborhood to consider buying real estate.
